THE MOST DELICIOUS (EGG FREE) CHALLAH:

5 lbs. high gluten flour
2 TBS. salt
1 1/4 cups sugar
3 envelopes of fast rising yeast
1/2 cup oil
6 cups of very warm water

Crumble mixture: (this makes it taste like babka I can not even begin to tell you the compliments on this challah)
1/2 stick margarine, softened
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar

1. place 2 TBS. salt in a bowl
2. pour flour on top of salt
3. add in the sugar, yeast, oil and water
4. mix well
5. let the dough rise for 2 hrs.
6. shape
7. let the challah rise again in the tins for another 30 minutes
8. combine ing. together for crumb mixture
9. shmear the top of the challah with oil
10. sprinkle crumbs all over challah
11. bake at 350 until challah have a light to medium brown top
