FASHION -ISHA FEATURE: Covering the Turban Trend

With the royal wedding closely behind us and the Kentucky Derby coming up this weekend, the screaming fashion trends seem to be all about head wear. With head wear there is so much drama and personal expression that it seems to appeal to everyone. And those who wouldn’t dare to sport a splashy head-covering still love to see people wearing them. It is the ultimate ‘topping’ to any outfit, so why not go all out?

Fashion-ISHA & Kosherstreet are very happy to introduce Ruti Horn of Ruti’s Headbands, super talented and creative designer of headbands, hats, jewelry and  turbans. Ruti joined Kosher Street to talk about the turban trend and give us a sneak peak into her vision of how to wear this trend.

Ruti writes:

Trend: TURBAN STYLE HEADBAND

Inspired From : THE TURBAN HEADWRAP

Though traditionally thought of as the age-old head-covering of the religious  Jewish woman, the turban head wrap has actually transformed into a leading fashion trend currently seen on runways all over. This creative look is indeed inspired from the turbans we know of well, as it contains a turban like knot in the front of the band. I will show you how to spruce up your look and wear the turban trend with flair. Whether you are a high style trendsetter or an everyday realist trying to add a little style to your  wardrobe, the turban head wrap is a must have for Spring/Summer 2011.

With endless possibilities I will show you how to spruce up your look and wear a turban with flair:

For the Fearless Fashionista:

If you dare to try something different: wear your  turban head wrap on your forehead instead of as a headband. Place the head wrap right above your eyebrows and have the fabric lay comfortably over your ears to add some drama.

Down to Earth with a Twist:

The key to keeping this look simple is the knot. The flatter, the better.  Soft fabrics like satin or mesh will allow the band to stay flat, whereas thicker fabrics like velour and cotton will give the knot more height.

There are no rules to this trend. A true trendsetter wears what makes her feel good. If you are comfortable enough to rock the leather turban band,  more power to you. If leather is too much of a fashion statement for you then try it in a satin. The possibilities are endless, try different prints and pair your head wrap with a loose bun or side braid to add a trendy vibe.

Here are some headband wraps available at Ruti’s Headbands:

Will you too be keeping it under wraps this season?
