Sure a pretty bouquet of flowers is nice for mom, but why not give a floral gift she will enjoy way after the last bloom has wilted? Here are twelve fabulous items that I myself would approve of as a sweet gift…(hint, hint ;) . Seriously though, the best part is that each item is less than $50!

If you’re still inclined to give your mom flowers, send something bold and colorful. Use gorgeous flowers that are in season like peonies which make a statement on their own. Save money by putting together your own creative arrangement. Your results will probably be more personally suited and fabulous than they would be if ordered from a florist.

An arrangement like this will look like you spent a fortune but with a little creativity you can create this for very little. Here’s how:

Check out your local Marshalls, TJ Maxx or Homegoods for a grand yet inexpensive footed urn or vase. This combination uses just three varieties, but adding stems of kumquats to the ‘Coral Charm’ peonies and hyacinths is an exciting and unexpected touch. Order 1/2 dozen of each flower variety from you local florist. Ideally, you may even find a fabulous variety of colorful flowers in your local grocery store.  In a footed urn with a wide mouth, it’s best to let the flowers spill over. (I would recommend placing an insert and  oasis foam into the container for more controlled arranging). You will be amazed at the result!

Need an easier idea? Peonies themselves are so grand on their own that just placing them in a pretty, original and re-usable vase makes a stunning gift!

Whatever you decide to do, enjoy the creative process and it will show in your gift. Remember that Mother’s Day is about showing appreciation and sharing love. The gift is just the icing on the cake!
