Weekend Color Report: How to Greet Shabbos Royally
Recently I’ve been feeling blue…no, I’m not sad, just loving blue as an IT color of the season. Royal blue, especially, is fresh and vibrant, yet still a ‘safe’ choice for the more conservative dresser who wants to try a pop of color. It is also one of the most universally flattering hues; the color of the sea and sky on bright summer day.
Blue is also a very easy color to style, especially in the summer. My simple recommendation: pair this hue with white. Try a crisp white belt and a bold white statement necklace or a couple of white resin bangles on your arm.
You may wonder what type of shoes to pair with this look and there are actually many different options. Here is a version of the look with several shoe choices that I think would work well depending on your preferences.
Which pair of shoes would you choose? Bold snakeskin peep toes? Classic mid heeled white pumps? A pretty and comfy white flat? Or a super trendy tie dyed peep toe pump? I’d love to hear your opinions so feel free to comment which shoes you think go best with this look!
Shopping Guide: (click on item for link)
Royal blue cotton and modal dress: $110
Kiki Riki 3/4 sleeve white shell: $16
Blue snake-embossed leather heel: $49.98
White slingback mid-heel pump: $40.08
Nine West ‘Olga’ flat: $56.90
Rachel Roy tie dye peep toe pump: $99 (my favorite!)
You can also keep this hue in mind when planning you flowers for Shabbos. Here is an easy to make centerpiece using one of my favorite flowers, the always majestic blue hydrangea.
What makes this centerpiece different is the way the simple glass vase is wrapped with a coordinating fabric in several shades of blue and then finished with a gorgeous velvet ribbon. Personalize your super easy flower arrangement with any matching fabric and ribbon that pleases your eye. Your creativity will enhance your time spent at the Shabbos table!
And since this IS Kosher Street, I could not resist posting this gorgeous blue velvet cake! Sara…we need a recipe for this asap!
Hope you all have a restful and ROYAL Shabbos!
