The Hurricane IRENE

Hey KS Fans,

So Shabbos was beautiful and actually really fun and relaxing despite the stormy weather conditions that hit us in NJ at around 1PM this afternoon. There really is nothing like taking an afternoon nap on Shabbos day, falling asleep to the so of rain against your roof and windows AHHH…

Now it is Saturday night and the reports are coming in that besides the Hurricane there might be an impending tornado as well! – So after making sure that I have flashlights in every room, and a bag packed and ready (in case of evacuation – or at least because it is waterproof -backup dry stuff  in case of flooding – I live by the lake) and saying a few words of tehillim that we should all be safe – I decided why not whip up a great drink to enjoy as I watch all the disaster reports and see the havoc that is outside my window?

If you think I am a little strange – that’s ok -You see I am from the school of thought that you should be 1. be prepared like a girl scout – even if all your friends and neighbors (yes E’s I am talking about you all who made fun this afternoon of my overly cautious hurricane prep! ) and 2. MAKE THE BEST OF A BAD SITUATION! – right now we are safe and dry BH, powers is on, all is well – Why not have a mini melava malka party with the family?

So Here is My Hurricane IRENE Cocktail that I am currently enjoying with a HUGE bowl of curry flavored butter popcorn as we ride out the storm tonight!

Stay Safe, BE PREPARED, and ENJOY a little if you can!

THE HURRICANE IRENE

2 cups ice

1 cup pine apple juice

1 cup orange juice

2 tbsp. lime or lemon juice

1 tbsp. honey

1 tsp. imitation rum flavoring – or if you dare the real thing

Pour every thing in a blender and blend.  – Enjoy!
