Nailheads: Style Perfection is in the Details

Hello Kosher Street!!

Hope everyone had a nice relaxing weekend and ailI hope everyone is getting back to real life and normalcy after all the Yom Tovim. I am back in the swing of all things design and excited for the month of November to be here already!

This week I am pinpointing in on a tiny small element that can have a BIG BIG effect! Nailheads! Who else loves nailheads? They are the perfect finishing touch to any upholstered piece of furniture, a gorgeous backdrop when they are applied on the wall, or just plain fabulous when used in a built -in unit or even applied in an entire walk in closet! I am obsessed with nailhead trim and here I have posted pictures of the best ways to use nailheads in your home!

As shown on this display, nailheads come in many different shapes, sizes and finishes.

This sofa is absolutely to fall over for! World Renowned Interior Designer Bunny Williams designed this nailhead sofa for her Beeline Home Collection. Bunny says “I particularly love the Nailhead sofa. It has a high back the perfect seat depth, a charming scalloped apron, and nailhead trim which defines the silhouette of the piece.”

Love this chair- the nailhead adds extra dimension.

Classic, refined and elegant.

And the back…love the simplicity of the nailheads with the neutral fabric and the white lacquered legs.

Headboards are one of my most favorite places to throw nailheads on. Nailheads can simply frame the shape of the headboard or you can go wild and create a design out of nailheads on the headboard. Take a look:

The nailheads frame the pagoda shaped headboard and the small print fabric ensures that the headboard is not too busy.

See how you can really transform a headboard with the use of nailheads?

clip_image012

Here the nailheads do not steal the show, but rather meld together nicely with the camel mohair fabric on the headboard.

clip_image013

What a fabulous use of nailheads! Upholstered walls with a nailhead headboard layered on top and the nailhead continues as almost a paneling motif in a very contemporary way. ..

A modern sleek nailheaded bed. What a statement.

Another great area to add nailheads to is screens or doors.

I am in love with this library. Take note of the red upholstered door with brass nailheads. Love the color scheme of black and red and the neutral sisal floor and neutral books. I also adore those red shaded sconces.

The nailhead squares above the daybed are casual chic in this family room. Love love love!

clip_image018

This is wallpaper that looks like it has nailheads placed in the square design but really the wallpaper has the studs attached to it- ingenious!

clip_image019

Here, nailheads are placed geometrically on top of a layer of fabric. This is so simple to recreate…and feels so glamorous and designer looking.

How fab is this dressing space/closet? Los Angeles interior designers Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe took the detail of nailheads to another level. The nailhead trim is used to make an outline of the panels on the drawers and the closet doors. I love the white built in closet cabinetry and vanity table. This closet area is clean, chic, and so beautiful. Love the simple touches of feminine detailing.

Gorgeous touch of nailheads on the night tables.

How great is this chest of drawers by Bernhardt Furniture? I can see this being used in a small hallway nook with a great lamp placed on top and a beautiful antique mirror above it for some play with juxtaposition.

clip_image029

Notice how this toile console is outlined with nailhead trim. Btw love the print console on the print wallpaper and the use of one of my all time fave colors- PINK!

clip_image031

After headboards, the usage of nailheads on ottomans is my favorite! Love the pop of yellow and metal nailheads against the” greige” wall, console, and curtains.

clip_image032

Once again, how lovely are these nailhead trimmed ottomans?

clip_image034 clip_image036

Funky ottomans that can work anywhere and have great nailhead designs.

clip_image037

Two ottomans under a console are a great way to dress an entryway. Especially love the dark nailheads on these ottomans.

clip_image038

This lime green nailhead mirror is so fun …its perfect if you are the type of person who only wants a little splash of color and nailheads.

Diamond nailhead design on a mirror.

Why not accessorize with nailheads? This croc nailhead studded jewelry box would look amazing in a master bedroom placed on top of a chest of drawers or night table.

Nailheads are so chic yet industrial at the same time. They add a roughness to a soft piece of furniture or a soft room. To me, nailheads are similar to the concept of a leather jacket with a tulle pink feminine skirt. When you throw tough nailheads onto a classic designed piece or room it livens the entire look up. So next time you want to revamp your old dining room chairs or spruce up your headboard or ottoman, apply nailheads and you will see how your old boring piece will transform into a gorgeous new piece of furniture.
