Saturday Night Drink: Salted Caramel Mocha
So I have slowly come to the realization that I am no longer a young whipper snapper. I say this as I sit here on my couch in my quiet house (kid is down for the count), happy as can be, in my pj’s and favorite cozy sweater, sipping on the most delicious homemade salted caramel mocha drink, waiting to start a video that I have been meaning to see for the last year.
In my hay days, I would have been outta the house the minute Shabbos ended, rushing to my café to prep for our very busy Saturday night crowd. I loved working Saturday Night’s in those days, the adrenaline of getting the place up and ready for the huge crowds to come, and the hungry Saturday night customers. The craziness that was the café made me come alive – despite the madness, for me it was FUN FUN FUN!
Now over a year since it has closed, I realized even though I crave at times the socialness that was my Saturday night’s (friends and family always were visiting me Saturday night, and we would sit and shmooze till we closed down the place and my guys needed to wash the floors) I love these long Saturday nights to do with as my own!
Tonight I choose time with family over friends, warm cozy hot salted caramel mocha over pizza & fries, and appreciating what I have, instead of missing what I lost.
I can not tell you how many cappuccinos, frappachinos and milk shake drinks I use to make on Saturday nights for what seemed like endless crowds of people. But I loved every minute and tonight as I do most Saturday nights at home, I make my self a great yummy drink to enjoy slowly with my favorite people at home.
Here is what I made tonight, one of my favorite drinks that I usually buy in my local starbucks, but have attempted to recreate tonight!
Happy Saturday Night!
Enjoy, Sarah
Salted Caramel Mocha
2-oz hot espresso
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp caramel sauce
8-oz hot milk
additional caramel sauce and loads of fresh whip cream, for topping
coarse sea salt, for topping
In a large mug, whisk together espresso, cocoa powder, sugar and caramel sauce until all of the sugar has dissolved. Top with steamed milk.
Add heaping mound of whip cream to the top, drizzle with caramel sauce and add a big pinch of salt A as garnish..
*Note: Or you can heat up some milk, place a little of your favorite chocolate at the bottom of your cup. drizzle some caramel and pour in the hot milk and hot espresso. Mix and combine the melting chocolate with the milk and espresso well. Throw in a pinch of salt and top with whip cream, more caramel drizzle and salt – YUM!

This sounds better than Starbucks!
