COBALT BLUE- APPLYING THE HOTTEST COLOR INTO YOUR HOME!

Hello All! Hope you had a great week.

The color cobalt has been on my mind these days. You may have seen it on the runway recently. Or perhaps you have seen it as a pop of color with an accessory against a neutral ensemble

. However, my favorite application of the color cobalt has to be in interior design. Just look at how stunning it can make a room. The bold blue color can transform a blah room into a “wow” statement. I adore how the look of richly lacquered cobalt blue walls can make a room feel. Go ahead and scroll down for incredible cobalt blue ideas!

Love how the tribal ikat and colorful artwork and mirror frame looks against the distressed cobalt dresser.

The pop of cobalt on the linen sofa is a dramatic addition to an otherwise neutral room. The lucite coffee table works well with the mixture of furniture. However, I would way rather see some gorgeous colorful and vibrant flowers in that vase. J

Sure hope you all take some cobalt inspiration and throw some of it in your home somewhere. Here are a few ideas of where you can apply it in your home besides for walls and furniture:

1. Scour yard sales or try antique stores in your neighborhood for cobalt blue glassware to use as a collection. (Ebay.com is great as well)

2. Find some inexpensive cobalt blue fabric and make up some funky throw pillows by your local seamstress. Cobalt blue looks oh so chic placed on a neutral sofa. Border the pillow with a neutral grosgrain ribbon.

3. Why not frame some of your children’s artwork in cobalt frames and place in your family room/kids room/playroom…?

4. Refinish your old boring dresser in a highly lacquered cobalt blue finish.

***A little designer secret I always do is give furniture into the car auto body shop and have them refinish it in a tough highly lacquered glossy finish. It is so resistant and way cheaper than having it re-done by a furniture refinisher.

Wishing you a wonderful week and getting excited for next Monday’s post!

Remember- your home is an extension of your fabulousness so keep it exciting and keep it chic!!

Until next time,

XOXO,

Marissa

I’ve been on a summer holiday in Santorini, Greece and the main theme of the island is cobalt blue and milky white. The interior of the hotel was simply fantastic and goes well with sunny sky and crystal blue sea. For a summer theme cobalt is just perfect
