Mirror mirror on the wall…Who’s the fairest of them all?

One of my favorite mirror styles are antique Venetian mirrors. If antiques are too pricey or out of reach for you, there are many well made Venetian mirror reproductions. While I love mirrors in general, Venetian mirrors float to the top of my list due to a few aspects.

1. I love the way old Venetian mirrors look in both a traditional or modern space

2. I love the large size of so many antique Venetian mirrors

3. I adore the glamorous details they provide- abundant curves, flowery rosettes applied on top, acanthus leaves, and small pieces of the glass attached separately

4. What I love most is that the older the mirror is the better the patina and more interest (as long as it is generally in good shape)

This bedroom is a bit too much glamour for my liking, but the mirrored bed and the Venetian mirror work nicely together. Perhaps, I would lose some of the pink fabric behind the bed.

This epitomizes how I would use a Venetian mirror. Placed next to totally new and contemporary bathroom sconces and above a retro styled vanity sink, this totally works.

A Venetian mirror is stunning in a front entryway.

J’adore when a large Venetian mirror is used in an unexpected place. In this living room, it just opens up the entire room and makes it feel larger. Notice how the mirror is used in a transitional room.

Chic, modern kitchen! Fabulous juxtaposition of the Venetian mirror with the artichoke pendant lighting and the glossy lacquered islands with those Federal style custom built ins. The architecture of the moldings and the fireplace create such a unique and swoon-worthy space.

Here, two Venetian mirrors flank the silk draped large window. Love the mixture of the old and new. This living room feels elegant and oozes French chic. (I just wish that beautiful gold coffee table was bigger)
