Rosh Hashanah Recipe Box: Sweet Potato & Apple Tzimmes
Hey KS Fans,
I am not sure there is a bigger sweet potato fan out there than myself – I truly love them.
And because my love knows no bounds,
I try to find as many recipes as I can using these delicous little orange potatoes.
I think I have tried them in every dish imaginable from the savory to the sweet – from the fried to the baked.
Here is one of my favorite side dishes that I got out of a Country Living Magazine .
It is the perfect side to a beef or chicken dish. I normally serve it on Rosh Hashanah during one of the night meals.
It is a great alternative to the traditional tzimmas.
Personally, I love to add a touch of cayenne to kick things up a notch , but I normally leave it out when serving as a Yom Tov side dish.
Happy Yom Tov! Sarah

How do you do this for Yom Tov when you can’t turn up the oven? It sounds so good and we all love sweet potatoes.
You can def. make this ahead and just rewarm- still delicious (in my opinion even more so – because the potatoes and apples have sat and soaked in all the sweetness)
Can you believe i”ve never had this with apples? I need to give it a whirl this year. Thanks for participating!
Love a little heat from the cayenne!! Yum!
This sounds fabulous. I love the combination of flavors. What do you think about using coconut oil instead of margarine?
I never used coconut oil …YET (but I think it can definitely work!) let me know how it goes
Sarah
Yum great idea with the apples! Never thought of that!
LOVE the combination of sweet potatoes and apples. And that kick from the cayenne – perfection!
thanks Chanie!!!
Love the sound of this. Apples make a great addition!
Thanks for joining Sarah!
Can you clarify the directions? Bake all ingredients together or roast sweet potatoes separately first? Thanks
This sounds good!
I was telling someone I never gave apple tzimmes a real shot. I don’t see why as I can’t see how can you go wrong with sweet potatoes and apple?!
Shana Tova to you and family!
GIVE TZIMMES A CHANCE!!
You will not be disappointed! Have a wonderful Yom Tov & A Sweet New Year as well! Sarah
