Mini’s Celebration – A Purim Party Idea

Mini Celebration

Our Purim Tablescape
The idea for this tablescape came from renowned
party planner Preston Bailey. All you need is one spool of
ribbon to create the most spectacular runner for your
buffet table. That same ribbon can be used to add extra
decorative glamour to simple glass vases.
Surprisingly, not only do these ribbons create an
awesome visual effect on the table, they also are strong
enough when bunched together to hold a fully loaded
plexiglass tray without any other support. (Try it! You’ll be
as amazed as we were.)
You can use any color ribbon and choose any colored
tablecloth to complement or contrast with it.

What you’ll need:
1 roll 2½-3″ wide ribbon (Michaels, $7.99 for 60 yards)
Artificial flowers (Wal-Mart, $1.99)
Plexiglass sheets (Lowe’s, $2.99 for a small sheet, $4.99
for medium, $11.99 for a large sheet that they can cut in
half for you)
Tip: Check Sunday circulars for coupons to stores like
Michaels, A.C. Moore, and Walmart. We used 75% off
coupons for each item we bought at Michaels — a huge
savings!

Another great table display idea is to use inexpensive lights
that can be purchased in almost any color to give your glass
vases and food an extra glowing touch.

If you dare:

To incorporate another color, add a different type of ribbon
to create other chic accessories like basic Styrofoam
cones to dress up your tablescape.
What you’ll need:
Styrofoam cone (Michaels, $3.99)
Gauze ribbon (Michaels, $4.99)
Straight pins (Michaels, $1.99)
What to do:
Scrunch ribbon every few inches around Styrofoam cone.
Secure ribbon with straight pins as necessary.
Use the cones as decoration, or if you are serving anything
on a stick, like corn dogs or candy, you can stick them into
the Styrofoam for a holder.
